One Year

It's been one year since I got married. One year!

I'm pretty proud of us. Marriage has the most interesting way of pushing and pulling you and I've loved it. The natural selflessness that's required in order to be a good spouse and to make your marriage even function leads to a lot of introspection and analyzing yourself--stuff that I probably should've been doing more of over the past few years. It constantly challenges you to be a better person. I do feel like I've grown up a bit and that I'm more kind, compassionate and willing to help others.

But I'm proud mostly because we've laid a great foundation. You figure out so many things you didn't even know you had to figure out when you're in this kind of a relationship, and we've laughed and cried and talked and hugged all whilst figuring our crap out. But mostly, Ian is consistently so, so kind. Always. That kindness will never fail and will always be a good idea. So, I think I've got a pretty good glimpse of our future and it looks preeeeetty good, if I do say so myself.

It's been such a good, full and wonderful year. We've done a lot and I'm so excited for the next chapter.

Happy one year, Ian. I love you so much and we're pretty awesome together. Thanks for marrying me!
